OTE 1: Important; when headcount is required for many of the meetings at Northwood Country Club we need an actual count. It seems in the past that some folks have said they would attend and then didn’t show. As it turns out the money for these meals were paid for by a retiree. This is not right and the Club can’t afford to do this. So PLEASE when you are called by your calling committee caller and you say yes, but you don’t show up, we will bill you for the amount of your meal. Thanks!
NOTE 2: Your new officers for 2010 are as follows: President – John McCullum; no VP; Secretary/Treasurer – Carolyn Goodrich; Calling Committee Chairman – Carl Bates; Sunshine Chairman – Sally Leach.
NOTE 3: Sad news John Souder passed away April 15.
13 January – Northwood Country Club - Lunch. Lunch will be at 12:00. The club officers are having a Planning Meeting in January. You are invited. The cost of lunch is $12.00 a person. 03 February – Red Lobster - Lunch. Lunch will be at 1:00. The address for the Red Lobster is 2055 Pleasant Hill, Duluth. We will order lunch from the menu. 03 March Macaroni Grill – Mall of Georgia - Buford – Lunch. Those planning to attend will meet at the restaurant at 11:30. We will order lunch from the menu. Cost about $15.00. There was 37 retirees/spouses that attended. We had a good meal and a good time. It was Carolyn Goodrich's birthday and the group sang happy birthday. She was really pleased. Sorry if you had to miss it.19 May – Gwinnett Braves Baseball Game. There were 30+ retirees/spouses in attendance. The Braves lost but we still had a good time. [ Photos archived August 2010]
02 June Tellus Science Museum - Cartersville. A small group of eleven from the Retirees Club visited the Tellus museum on June 2, 2010. We were very impressed with the museum. It is a great experience for adults and children alike. Each of the exhibit halls is unique and impressive. The planetarium show was amazing. If you wish to visit the museum, contact John McCullum or Cliff Curtis for directions and other info.
07 July – Annual Picnic – River Forks Park. Those planning to attend will meet 10:30-11:00 with lunch at 12:00. Directions – I-85 north to I-985 north to exit #16 (Oakwood, route #53). Turn left on #53, then turn right at dead end and go about 1-1/2 to 2 miles and turn left onto Route #369. River Forks Park entrance will be about 1 mile on the right. Turn right and follow to park gate. Proceed to the pavilion on the right. Bring meat to grill. Bring a covered dish or dessert to share. Everyone planning to attend please bring your own drinks. There will be a book exchange; those interested please bring your books. Sponsor: Gene Whitley. Pleas wear your badge for free admission!

06 October – Eckles House – Barbeque Lunch. The 5th annual backyard cookout will be held at the Eckles’ Home on Wednesday, October 6, 2010. Lunch will be served at 12:00 noon. Lunch, iced tea, water and coffee will be provided. The cost for lunch is $12.50 per person. Directions – From GA 400 Southbound – Exit GA 400 at exit 13 (Peachtree Pkwy – GA 141). Turn right onto Peachtree Pkwy and go north 2.5 miles. (Note: Peachtree Pkwy changes name to Bethelview Road after crossing Hwy 9). Turn left into the entrance to Polo Golf & Country Club onto Polo Fields Parkway. Proceed to dead end and turn left onto Polo Drive. Follow Polo Drive to Chukker Court (1.3 miles). Turn right onto Chukker Court and go to the first driveway on the left. From GA 400 Northbound – Exit GA 400 at exit 12B (McFarland Road). Turn right onto McFarland Road and go north to Atlanta Hwy (GA9). Turn right onto Atlanta Hwy and go to Post Road (GA 371). Turn left on Post Road and go to Polo Drive (2.1 miles). Turn right into the entrance to Polo Golf & Country Club onto Polo Drive. Go to the second street on the left – Chukker Court. Turn left onto Chukker Court and go to first driveway on the left.
